Kade....."Mom, Can I have another bowl of cereal?"
Me......" No. I'm making sandwiches to take to the park during conference break."
Adam..... "I have a better idea. Let's go to the Grand Canyon!"

We left around 1:30. We didn't really know if we were going the right way, to be honest.
We went on pure faith that we would find it.
We had to stop to see Max. Well---where he was buried.
After searching for a while, we finally found the rock with his name on it!
It was face down about 20 yards away from his burial site!
Next we had to stop to see the big Tarantula crossing the road.
It was amazing we didn't run over it!! We had to get out and see it up close.
Meggy took pictures.
THEN we had to stop about 5 miles later to see ANOTHER HUGE Tarantula crossing the road.
This one was much bigger than the last one!! More Pictures.
After that Dally said "Okay Dad roll up the windows so no
tarantulas will jump in the car."
About 30 miles in, we came across an old schoolhouse that had been rebuilt.
The kids loved ringing the outside bell with the rope.
Another cool part about our trip was when we were listening to conference as we drove. As the Mormon Tab sang the last song of the day, we were driving through the prettiest part of the mountains. With narrow winding roads surrounded by enourmous tall pines. Loved it.
Just as we pulled up to the ranger station right before our destination,
Kade pointed out that we had a flat tire.
What luck we had when we noticed the air hose and heavy iron jack about 10 feet in front of us!
Adam and Kade changed the tire while we ate our sandwiches, chips and chocolate!
30 Minutes later...... Approximately 4 hours total into our trip we arrived at the
GRand Canyon. We made it. We were just driving slowly along when
we heard Bridger yell "look there's some people over there!"
Adam says "O yep there's some people....wait---um O....they're naked. He speeds up the car. Eyes forward everyone. Don't look!! Ha ha ha! I was laughing so hard! At first I didn't believe him! But Brinley confirmed it! Unfortunately she saw them too! Really? Really.
Nice scenery to add to our beautiful conference ride. How do you explain that one to your kids?
The Grand Canyon was beautiful. Worth the bumpy ride. Didn't seem real. So amazing.
Freaky, too! How the cliff just drops off. We had to watch the kids really close.
I have to admit I didn't really want to go at first. Seemed like such a big deal. I just wanted to watch conference on my comfy old couch and eat popcorn. BUt. Driving through nature while listening to conference was fun. The kids didn't even complain once. I'm writing this so I will remember this.
