Do your kids ever do this?
Mom it's dress smart day! We HAVE to dress up!
You search for the note in your huge pile of papers that you meant to go through but haven't had time. Yup. Sure enough. It's red ribbon week. Crap!
So you frantically look around for stuff to dress them up in because they only have fifteen minutes before they have to be out the door. But you do it. It's difficult, but you make it work. Ribbons for suspenders, reading glasses that you have to take the lenses out of so they can see.....etc. etc. Because if they don't dress up, then they won't get their treat, and it will be all YOUR fault!
They look great and they make it out the door barely on time.
BUT THEN they notice the other kids and they start to PANIC--
Mom. How come they aren't wearing glasses? I don't see anyone wearing suspenders! Are you SURE we are supposed to wear them? Did it say it on the paper???
Are you FREAKING kidding me??? Just put your glasses back on and go to school!!
And now as I sit here typing this, I'm sure he has stuffed what he can in his backpack and has ruffled up his nerdy slick do, because heaven forbid if he should look different than everyone else!!
We really need to work on that.
